Leave ReMind UK a gift in your Will

Gifts in Wills are a vital part of our income and we’ve been grateful to receive many donations in the Wills of people we’ve supported. After you’ve provided for your loved ones, please consider leaving a gift to ReMind UK in your Will.

You can expect to pay around £100-150 for a straightforward will. Before you meet with an expert, make a list of everything that you own – your ‘estate’. This should include property, savings and shares and should take into account any amounts owing on mortgages or loans.

Also make a list of the specific bequests or gifts you would like to make to family, friends or to specific charities. It’s advisable to include full names and addresses – and in the case of a charity, their Charity Commission number. ReMind UK’s charity number is: 1042559.

Gifts to charity are deducted from your total estate before inheritance tax calculations, which can be an additional benefit to charitable giving. Read more about the tax benefits of leaving a gift to charity.

You may want to choose certain members of your family to act as executors (often two are chosen) or you can ask your solicitor to act in this way.

Remember to keep your will up to date especially when details such as addresses change, or to include new family members, by adding a codicil. A codicil is a legal term for an instruction that is added to a will after the main part of it has been written.

Any gift, no matter how small, will help us achieve our aim to advance the medical care and quality of life of older people everywhere. It will allow us to focus on researching the best ways of diagnosing and treating Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia and finding ways to help with the challenges of living with dementia, both for the person and their family and carers.
