“I wanted to volunteer with ReMind because I wanted to work face-to-face with a diverse group of people, giving back to my local community, and in turn learning and building new skills for myself. I also wanted to gain valuable experience working with older people to aid me in my future career as a Speech and Language Therapist.

Having worked closely with a group of people with Dementia and their carers as part of the Chat, Make and Move initiative, I have seen the benefit this has had on the people involved. It is so important that those with Dementia get the support that they need and have access to information, activities and community. I have seen how this helps them, their carers and their families maintain a sense of normalcy and connection at a time of difficulty.

I have had so many positive experiences whilst volunteering with ReMind – moments full of laughter and joy. I have learnt so much and made new friends. I would definitely recommend volunteering with ReMind to anyone who has a spare bit of time. And if that’s not enough incentive – the cakes are fab!”
